The power of facilitative working

Today I had a meeting with a client. It was just the two of us in the meeting, to discuss a project we are working on for 2011/12.

I found myself facilitating our, albeit small, meeting. By really paying attention to the key questions we needed to answer in our meeting, we achieved far better results than if we had just ‘had a chat’ about the subject. The meeting resulted in my client developing a grand plan for all her projects in the next 2 years.

It reinforces my belief that the principles of facilitation really work in all kinds of situations. Even when I am not in a named ‘Facilitator’ role, I hold my facilitation principles true and work facilitatively.
